2004 Summer Reading Program 

THIS year our program will run for 6 weeks. Children ages 3-11 are required to read 120 minutes each week, Young Adults ages 12 - 16 are required to read 200 minutes each week. After the weeks reading is complete, bring the record into the Children’s section of the Library to get that weeks reading recorded. You will then be given a new record for the next week and a ticket for the movie( on movie weeks) or a reward (if it is a reward week).

OPENING ACTIVITY on June 12^th will begin at 12:00 noon and go until 4:00pm. You may come any time during those hours. There will be games in front of the Library for the younger children, also popcorn with your ticket. Author/storyteller Kenneth Thomasma will be giving presentations about discovering new trails for older children and young adults in the Multi-Purpose room upstairs in the Library.

READING RECORD DUE DATES are listed at the bottom of each record. Records are due each Wednesday by 9:00 Pm Library closing time. They can be brought in any time that they are done. If you can bring them in before Wednesday you will not have to wait as long to get recorded. The due dates are also listed on the Calender.

The week of the July 24^th no record will be due so as not to interfere with family plans. Use this week to catch up on reading. Also if you miss bringing in a reading record by the due date bring it in as soon as possible . This allows you to continue in the program, but you will miss the reward for that week.

There will be two drawings for prizes, and will be done the Wednesday evening on MOVIE weeks, Thursday morning is too late. A list of winners will be posted after the movie at the library. We will also call winners. Keep in mind that everyone cannot win.

MOVIES will be shown at the VERNAL Theater on MAIN Street. The theater opens one half hour before start time. The concessions stand will be open. Brent Shiner is allowing us the use of the theater free of charge, so encourage your children to take care of their trash. Parents are welcome to attend movies with their children. Please don’t ask for tickets for friends & relatives. The movie reward is for the children in the program. There will be two showings of the first movie so that all can attend. You will be assigned a time.

June 24^th

                 1:00 - Brother Bear - running time 85 minutes.

                 3:00 - Brother Bear - running time 85 minutes.

 July 8^th  

                1:00 - Haunted Mansion - running time 99 minutes

Closing Activity will be on Friday, July 30^th. There will be two sessions so everyone can enjoy a full session. You will be assigned a session.

     6:30 - 8:15 First Session

     8:30 - 10:30 Second Session

We will be serving hot dogs, chips, and drinks. Immediate families are invited to attend with children completing the program Please bring only immediate family members.

FINAL REWARD

 Starting on Monday, August 2^nd those finishing the program can come back into the Library for their final reward. The children will receive a paperback book, and the Young Adults will receive a (really cool) final reward. Please have this done by August 14th.
